Andrea Gelzer, MD
Senior Vice President and Corporate Chief Medical Officer

Andrea Gelzer, MD, is the Corporate Chief Medical Officer for the AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies. As Corporate Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Gelzer is responsible for overseeing the medical management strategy, medical policy development, quality management, corporate provider network strategy and medical informatics for all AmeriHealth Mercy health plans.

Before joining AmeriHealth Mercy, Dr. Gelzer served as the Chief Medical Officer for Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan, a managed care plan providing coverage for Medicaid and other low-income residents in Massachusetts. Dr. Gelzer also served in multiple roles, including Senior Vice President Clinical Public Affairs at CIGNA Corporation, and for 16 years worked in private practice in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Gelzer earned her undergraduate degree from Tufts University and her doctor of medicine degree from St. George's University.   She also received a Master of Science degree in preventive medicine/administrative medicine at the University of Wisconsin Madison.  She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
