AmeriHealth Mercy/ PerformRx Appoints Vice
President of Pharmacy Sales
May 5, 2004 - Philadelphia (PA) - AmeriHealth Mercy
announced today the appointment of Charles "Charlie"
Scammell as its new Vice President of Pharmacy Sales. Mr. Scammell
will lead the national pharmacy sales and marketing efforts
for AmeriHealth Mercy's pharmacy benefit management program,
PerformRx.
Mr. Scammell brings more than 20 years experience in both health
care and pharmacy sales to AmeriHealth Mercy. Most recently,
he was the National Account Executive for Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals,
responsible for the National and Northeast Regional PBM and
HMO accounts. In addition, Mr. Scammell has a wide range of
experience in product management and marketing, program development,
strategic planning, operations analysis and organizational design
projects within the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.
Mr. Scammell received an MBA in Marketing from the Columbia
University Business School. He received his Masters in Public
Health from the Columbia University School of Public Health,
and he received a BS in Biology from St. Lawrence University.
AmeriHealth Mercy's pharmacy care management solution, PerformRx,
maintains an average annual pharmacy cost trend of less than
9% versus the national trend of 18%-25% within the Medicaid
sector by using the approach of linking traditional medical
management with pharmacy management.
