Northern Home for Children Honors Daniel J. Hilferty at its Partnerships for the Children Awards Dinner

June 2, 2009
Philadelphia, PA
– More than 300 people were in attendance at the Cescaphe Ballroom in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia for the recent Partnerships for the Children Awards Dinner, hosted by Northern Home for Children. Daniel J. Hilferty, President and Chief Executive Officer of the AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies, was honored for his outstanding work and commitment to bettering the lives of underserved children throughout the Delaware Valley.

Hilferty and Keystone Mercy Health Plan, a member of the AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies, have worked with Northern Home for Children for the last 10 years.

Northern Home for Children is a community-based organization helping at-risk children and families through support programs that include: residential services (for teenage moms and babies), partial hospitalization and outpatient care, foster care, adoption services, wraparound services, Services to Children in their Own Home (SCOH), school-based services and parenting education.

Tracey Lavallias, President and Chief Executive Officer of Northern Home for Children, described Hilferty as a leader: "We are privileged to be able to work with Dan and the AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies. Their commitment to our community and our mission of assisting children in need, goes above and beyond the call of duty." He continued, "Mr. Hilferty leads by example and shows our kids what it means to 'do for others,' and the true definition of giving back."

In his acceptance speech, Hilferty talked about family and how it is comprised of a network of individuals who nurture and care for one another. "If we all engage and play a supportive role with our community and with the children, there is no telling the level of excellence they can achieve or the heights to which they can rise." He continued, "I am proud to be a part of the Northern Home family and even prouder of the results produced in the community and far beyond."
